We love shoes right?! Shoes can be a hit or miss in thrift stores, but find the right stores and have the right timing you can find some great stuff! I have explored a gem hidden away in Picton Ontario, City Revival. They are a designer consignment store and carry some high-end labels. Very much looking forward to their online store. I always enjoy visiting them in the summer.
The last time I was there, I picked up two pairs of Prada shoes in black patent leather around $80-$90 each with cloth storage bags. Not a super cheap find, but an investment piece, with the right care, will last.
Good o’talize in Whitby, Ontario. They were hovering on a few dollars less than Value Village. Like Value Village, operating for profit, so the costs have gone up a bit. Nevertheless, still some good deals! Picked up some L.A.M.B, by Gwen Stefani for $9.99. I’m lucky, high pumps fit my feet comfortably, but it is winter, so they will need to wait to spring.
Common brands you will find, Nine West, Spring, Steve Madden, Soft Moc, Hunter and George. Make sure you give them a good sanitizer spray when you get them home.
Look for: Leather, suede, unmarked patent leather or vinyl, leather or rubber soles, and proper fit. With a little support, leather and suede can be revived to look almost new again. See shoe revival.
I’m always a fan of classic shoes. I have picked up a few over the years, some for a cheap at $4. Leather, made in Italy, can’t go wrong. Italians know their leather and know their shoes! A few of my favourites below.
